The sighting occurred at approximately 9:00 pm and was reportedly seen by several editors of Vijesti news magazine. The magazine’s photojournalist, Zoran Djuric, captured photos of the UFO with his camera. According to news website InSerbia, the brightly illuminated object changed shape, size, direction, and speed. Astronomer Igor Dajkovic discounts the possibility of atmospheric phenomena. He stated, “These phenomena meteorologists usually describe by the term of ball lightning. Again, this term is also pretty undefined and as such serves for various interpretations, so it is used to describe something that can fly even few meters from the ground, hover in place, move back and forward, etc.” But meteorologist Dusan Pavicevic ruled out the possibility that this UFO was ball lightning.

According to InSerbia, the Flight Control Agency of Serbia and Montenegro (SMATSA) has not responded to requests for confirmation of any flying object in the sky at the time of the sighting.

  1. That is a very cool photo, if it is legit.

  2. The photo is legit but it is NOT of a round halo type object. It is of a reddish orange round object that was taken in a time exposure, likely hand held. Because the camera moved during the exposure which was probably automatically lengthened because the camera had little light to work with, the object image was “dragged” out or “trailed”.

If you notice, the TREE in the image is also trailed as well but because it is not a bright point light source you can’t see the movement of the camera as clearly as you can with the orange object. Similarly you can see some bright stars also captured in the image that show the same trailed motion to the same extents. The orange object was very bright and this saturated the image a little more, appearing bigger but it is the same motion as seen in he other objects.
This object was moving but not very fast. You can see the light trail has been elongated a little bit more because of the nature of the object’s movement but the rest of the movement you see is due to the cameraman motion . As he pressed the shutter release he began to impart movement to the camera which resulted in this case in a small circular movement which reproduced the shape you see here in the image.

Generally we say images like this are the result of camera shake and this is a pretty classic representative…

So in my view the object was round with a relatively large cross section. The color and size of the cross section although completely consistent with a Chinese Lantern do not positively identify it as such since we only have this one photo and little witness report details.

For instance the witness reports of it changing size and shape could be the result of comparing photos of which only one made it to this article. If that was the case then they could have been comparing the various amounts of camera shake in each successive shot. We don’t know. Tentatively based on deduced speed, color, and cross section in this one shot I would have to say it fits Chinese lantern but in the absence of further data I can’t positively ID it as such…
