The Super Bowl is typically the most watched television program in the United States. The commercials that air during the Super Bowl have become anticipated almost as much as the game itself. Advertisers pay millions of dollars for brief thirty second advertising spots to get their product or products in front of 100+ million pairs of eyes. The attention to these Super Bowl ads has increased so much that it is now major news when the names of those companies that will be advertising are released. In the list of advertisers for this year’s game, it appears that an extraterrestrial theme will be quite prevalent.

Kia, the South Korean car company, will be airing a commercial entitled “One Epic Ride,” advertising their Optima midsize sedan. This spot features a UFO and an extraterrestrial being.

Many extraterrestrial-themed movies are scheduled to be released this year, and a couple of these films are being advertised during the Super Bowl, including Cowboys and Aliens, Super 8, and Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon. An ad for Chevrolet will even feature a character from Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon.

A Volkswagen ad will supposedly be using the Star Wars theme music too.

Super Bowl commercials have become extremely popular entertainment, and are a popular topic of discussion for days following the big game. It will be interesting to see how many people pick up on the recurring extraterrestrial theme during the Super Bowl, which airs on Sunday, February 6th.
