A strange UFO was spotted by several witnesses above Dos Palos, California in early July 2012.
One witness managed to record the object on video for more than ten minutes. From this video, the aerial object appears to be a metallic-looking, sphere-shaped object with long, shimmery strands suspended below this sphere. Local Fox affiliate KMPH explored the possibility that this UFO was simply a weather balloon, but scientists from the National Weather Service said they “haven’t seen a weather balloon that looks like that ever.”
KMPH also sought the opinion of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) regarding this UFO, but the FAA did not return the station’s calls.

Looks like an “angel” or something… really does look like a weather balloon…
Strange theories are: Mothman, Angel, rip in the time-space continuum etc… but realistically it’s probably just some odd terrestrial object and someone knows what it is!
I have a feeling that this is some type of balloon with something attached to it, whether its a type of research or weather balloon, or just a huge birthday party balloon with streamers I’m not sure. The sun is clearly reflecting quite dramatically off this object making it appear to almost glow. One things for certain though – it’s sure strange looking.
This is most probably a balloon. I wish the videographer had mentioned the wind direction and speed, but I do commend him for videoing the surrounding area and road for perspective. Wind info would have given some indication of whether or not the object is simply drifting with the wind. The fact that the round part (that would hold the helium or hot air) is above the streamers is another indication this is a balloon. Supposedly, at the 1947 Roswell Debris Field, the saucer there dumped a lot of material that resembled foil. If this is indeed a saucer, it could be one in distress that has partially dumped some of its “foil” material. But I wouldn’t hold my breath. It looks like a balloon. It seems to be drifting like a balloon. And the streamers are hanging down as if from a balloon. I’m putting my money on the balloon explanation.
It looks like clear plastic haning from the bottom definately not smoke. Like suranwrap or like dry cleaner bags that kind of plastic thin lightweight clear. Smoke would dissperse or dissapear in the wind no matter how slight of a breeze.
Just watched it and thought perhaps a balloon but the bit dangling below is hard to explain as it reflects the sun fully in the shape of a cone and yet in other parts of the video the cone is fragmented. As a special effect this could be achieved by someone constructing a mosaic mirror in the shape of a flat cone but with the cone not completely flat to give the partial cone glow.
I noticed the wind speed must’ve been very calm as the object doesn’t swap at all.
