After 62 years of collecting, researching and analyzing the UFO phenomenon, I have come to a rather tentative conclusion that “they” has no simple way of being explained as a description of either the visitors themselves or where they come from.

During my personal research and investigation, I have worked closely with over a hundred different UFO contact cases, maintaining continuous contact with the “experiencers” and their families. I have watched the experiencers slowly learn to cope with this new phenomenon and adjust to it so that they may be able to go on with their daily lives. They are never the same after this starts.

Nearly all of these cases seem to be infinitely different from one another in both minor and major details. Almost invariably, the ships are of different style and form, with different propulsion systems and technologies. The occupants use different modes of communication and have different morphologies, sizes, features, garments, skin colors and textures, etc. Many are of humanlike form, but many are not.

However, there do seem to be possible similarities between cases when the entities allege they came from a sun system that our astronomers call Reticulum.

The Betty & Barney Hill Case

Betty and Barney Hill

Betty and Barney Hill

The famous Betty and Barney Hill abduction took place in Massachusetts the night of September 19, 1961. The beings were small human-like creatures that communicated with the Hills in English. The beings took the Hills aboard their craft as the couple was driving home. The Hills were released after the beings performed a medical examination on their craft.  Prior to release the Hills escorted Betty around the vehicle, showing her other similar beings involved in technical operations. The beings also showed her control panels, equipment and their vessel’s navigation chart room.

When Betty asked the beings where they came from, they pulled up a navigational chart on a viewing screen and showed her their home sun system. The chart had heavy, finer, and dotted lines connecting points of light in the screen. She was told the lines represented communications and navigation routes among familiar points in their system.

When Betty asked where our sun was, the being pointed to a dim spot of light down in a corner with no lines of any kind to it. The being said that the lines represented regular communications routes frequently traveled by his people. According to the map, our solar system was far away from activity for those beings.

Years later, amateur astronomer Marjorie Fish made a bead box of neighboring stars.  In doing this, Fish was looking recreate the configuration Betty Hill was able to remember and draw under hypnosis. The closest match seemed to indicate a binary star system known as Zeta 1 and Zeta 2 Reticuli, located about 39 light years from Earth.

The Zeta Reticuli Connection

William Hermann

William Hermann

In 1978, William J. Herrmann, a born-again Christian living in North Charleston, South Carolina, who would have laughed at anybody trying to tell him about any UFO story, suddenly became an experiencer. At the time Herrmann was deacon in his Southern Baptist Conference Church, passed the collection plate at services, taught Sunday School and assisted in the administration of church affairs.

One night, Herrmann had noticed an unusual pinkish-orange pulsating light moving in a very strange sharp angular flight pattern in the sky. His first thought was that this was a new U.S. Navy flight vehicle being tested at the Charleston Naval Base. The following night, when the object seemed to be particularly bright and close, Herrmann took a flashlight and his binoculars, and went out to get a better look.

He went to the railroad track that passed his home, and as he was trying to focus on the light, it swooped down so rapidly and close that he ducked down to avoid being hit by the object. As he did this, he caught his foot on a rail of the track and began to fall, but instead he rose in a blue beam of light and was taken aboard the large disc-shaped craft.

Herrmann’s description of the beings matched those provided by Betty and Barney Hill. After being examined by the beings, he was invited to ask questions. He was told they came from the third planet out in a stellar system known as Zeta 1 Reticuli.

The beings gave Herrmann a physical description of the geological make-up of their planet, which turned out to be rather similar to Earth. When Herrmann asked what they were doing here, they answered that they had made contact with a man and woman couple on our planet eighteen years prior, matching the time of the Betty and Barney Hill event.

Thus, we had a mutual correspondence for the first time, and both incidents seemed to be with beings from a known star in our galaxy.

Only 10 Percent of Sightings Reported

In 1979, the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) and the Canadian UFO Research Network (CUFORN) took all the known UFO cases reported worldwide and plotted them on charts and graphs. They came up with relative percentages for the known reporting areas of the world, basically Europe, the U.S., Mexico, South America, Japan and Australia. Percentages of sightings as well as landings, cases with occupants and involuntary abductions were calculated and the data was illustrated.

In addition, speakers at symposiums on the subject often polled their audiences on how many present had or knew someone who had a direct contact or experience. There would be a very small show of hands in the audience.

The speakers would ask the audience to raise their hands again if they had reported the event to any authority, newspaper, radio or TV station, police, college, or to any UFO organization. Very few hands would go back up, usually ten percent or less of the initial set of people who raised their hands. Thus, it was concluded that for every case on record there could be ten more unreported. Moreover, this accounted for only the areas of the world that were reporting UFOs.

Estimates were extrapolated for the non-reporting areas of the world. The extrapolated number was estimated at 7,000 reported events over the surface of our planet per year. By applying the 10-percent rule, we arrive at a stupendous figure of 70,000 UFO events taking place on Earth every year. And historical reports indicate that this has been going on consistently, perhaps as long as humanity has been here.

A Long History of Contact

The ancient Chinese witnessed what many have referred to as “flying woks” 10,000 years ago, and the legendary Yellow Emperor (2,500 B.C.) had Ambassadors from the stars in his court. During this time, it is reported that a nobleman and his wife were even taken to see our moon, and their descriptions of the moon were confirmed in modern times when we finally went to the moon ourselves.

In Indian mythology there were so many UFOs used by the gods and heroes that they were classified with bird names like Duck Vimana, Pheasant Vimana, Goose Vimana, etc. The two great Sanskrit epics, the Mahabharata and the Ramayana, are full of episodes involving vimanas, which in Sanskrit means aerial car.

Ancient UFOs are not limited to China and India, but appear in the legends and mythologies of many cultures. In the Annals of Rome, for instance, there are many references to the “Flying Shields” observed over the Roman Armies in the field.

We can assume that space is so vast, with so many stars in each galaxy, and so many galaxies in the universe, that the likelihood that visitors to this planet came from the same place is very remote. They may occasionally meet when here at the same time observing the same contactees, as has happened. But that is rare indeed.

Infinite Universe

When the Hubble Telescope was aimed at a dark spot in the heavens for 26 minutes, the developed plate showed as many points of light as when we photograph the Milky Way.  However the points of light were all galaxies because individual stars were too faint to register. Thus, we don’t know if there is any limit to the “Universe” at all.

In my investigations, I have found evidence that the visitors are coming from everywhere, including other galaxies, and even other “Island Universes.” These visitors do not all seem to have to return to where they originated and in some cases they have indicated that their home planet is no longer in existence, having run its cycle and decayed.

The Plejarans

Billy Meier

Billy Meier

The beings referred to as Plejarans, who visited “Billy” Meier in Switzerland, described their last origin as on a planet in the constellation we call Lyra. Meier’s discussions with the beings revealed that their planet was much like ours today. It was divided into proud nations often at war with each other over petty differences. The resources of that planet were being expended by their ever-growing war-making activities.

When the Plejaran scientists began to look out at the heavens to study and calculate events being observed, they discovered that a neighboring sun was approaching the end of its cycle, and that it would probably end in a nova. They had already calculated that a nova was fatal out to about thirty light years, and they were within that fatal area. At some point, when the scientists of all the nations became seriously concerned about survival itself, they agreed to marshal all the resources of that planet to try to build escape vehicles to get away before the final end.

It took them some 300 years to finally get a useable vehicle for the evacuation, and another 500 years to perfect it for the job ahead. When the Plejarans finally reached a sophistication where they were completely self-sustained and self-regenerating, the evacuation began. When the nova finally occurred all remaining life on the Plejaran planet was extinguished.

The “Great Spacers”, the ship that the Plejarans built, carried about 150,000 passengers. A utopian lifestyle evolved and became the norm for the Plejarans. However, soon the Plejarans became bored and sought to learn new things.

The Plejarans searched for a new uninhabited planet suitable for settlement. When they found one in the constellation we call the Pleiades, they were able to selectively introduce the scientific elements and activities that convert the primary atmosphere to a secondary oxygen atmosphere like our own. This was accomplished in a few thousand years instead of the millions of years it would normally take for this to happen.

The remains of the nova that forced the Plejarans to leave their original planet are seen today as the Ring Nebula of Lyra.

More Visitors With No Home

There are more cases on record where the visitor beings tell their contactee(s) that the ETs’ home planet no longer exists. Thus, it appears to me that the life cycle of a planet is shorter than the cycle of its inhabitants, and that when a planet is ready for life it sends out a signal of some kind. The roving alien intelligence is drawn to certain planets and the whole process starts all over again.

In this sense, planets seem to be something like bird nests. When the ETs mature and are ready to fly, they leave and never return. They continue to roam space forever in their self-regenerating, self-repairing “Great Spacers”, where they can manufacture all that they need from primordial space. They manufacture their air, their water, the soils for their gardens, their metals and all the materials of all kinds for their developing needs. They never require anything from anybody ever again.

Thus, at my present 86 years of age, and with over 62 years of study of this phenomenon, I have concluded that this is really bigger than we can even imagine, that life is more abundant than we ever considered, and there was no beginning and will be no end.

About Wendelle Stevens

Lt. Colonel (USAF Ret.) Wendelle C. Stevens was one of the world’s best known UFO researchers. Born in 1923 in Round Prairie, Minn., he enlisted in 1941 in the US Army and was transferred to the Air Corps in 1942. He served in the Pacific Theater during World War II and subsequently in a classified project in Alaska to photograph and map the Arctic land and sea area, where the data collecting equipment onboard B-29s detected UFOs. Stevens also served as US Air Attaché in South America. He retired from the USAF in 1963 and worked for Hamilton Aircraft until 1972.

  4. sad day for wendelles family and close friends sad for this planet that we have lost a truely amazing human being & ufo researcher theres a very bright star in our sky thats wendelle to me he was a star on earth & now a even bigger one up there sleep well love u wendelle andy from scotland

  5. Wendelle will be greatly missed. He has left a huge legacy behind, and I think the world has been made a better place because of him. He helped greatly to open people’s minds and was a real pioneer in an area that has had so much ridicule and skepticism. I believe his tireless effort has helped to bring more light into this world, it certainly did mine. I am glad to have known him.

The creation is unimaginable and timeless. We are all connected. No beginning and no end,…multiverse.

  6. Thank you dear soul for all of the hard work and persistence. You have shed much good light on this subject matter. We need many more to take up your studies and open minds to this reality. Bless you and your family and friends.
