Aerosmith’s Joe Perry discusses Roswell, UFOs

Episode 616 of the popular Nerdist Podcast features an interview with legendary guitar player Joe Perry. He sat down with host Chris Hardwick to discuss the book he released in mid-2014, ROCKS: My Life In and Out of Aerosmith. But Perry and Hardwick also briefly discussed Roswell, New Mexico and UFOs.

The subject of UFOs comes up when Perry is commenting on how he loves being on the road with his family in his tour bus, which gives him the freedom to go anywhere he wants. To illustrate, he uses the example of Roswell. “Roswell is one of those places that’s out in the middle of nowhere,” he explains. Perry continues, “It’s not really on the way to anywhere. It’s not a destination, and it’s not on the way to a destination. It literally took us eight hours out of our way.” But he explains that he really wanted to see Roswell because he is “really into that kind of stuff.”

He also describes that, early in his relationship, finding and watching VHS tapes of UFO sightings was a hobby he and his wife enjoyed together.

Hardwick asks Perry if he has ever seen a UFO. He responds:

We had a place up in New Hampshire out on the lake . . . and I think it’s August there’s usually a lot of meteor showers. And we’ll go out and sit on the boat and watch, because the stars are amazing up there, and watch for meteors. And every once in a while you’ll see something that’s not moving the way it should. And you can convince yourself. You know, hey, a UFO is basically an unidentified flying object. So there are a lot of things that qualify for that. It doesn’t mean it’s a spaceship. It’s just unidentified. You know what I mean? So, like I said, you could convince yourself that it’s something. But I reall haven’t really seen anything.

But he goes on to say, “But I gotta believe that they’re out there.”

In his final comment about the subject of UFOs and extraterrestrials, Perry states, “Until I really see something, I really can’t say ‘yes’ or ‘no,’ but I’ve got an open mind about it.”

As part of my “get happy” thing I used to do a lot of things like play music in and around Ft. Lauderdale so one night between the hours of 12:30 and 1:00 am I was headed home on I-95 headed south and watching the road when I see “something” that left a florecent green streak behind it making this impossible flight manuver that ended up as a perfect triangle when it was finished and this was all done in a matter of seconds like as fast as you can count “one two three”. There was also another smaller “comma” shaped ufo with a corkscrew tail about the color of a sodium streetlamp that made this lazy “j” flight pattern into the bottom middle of the triangle.

After the comma ufo did it’s thing the “trail” started to follow itself back the way it came which was from “right to left” and at the same speed until both it and the comma had just disappeared like it was never even there. Then about three nights later I was traveling home on the same highway at about the same time when I see what looked like a set of “helicopter blades” again florcent green, rotating at full speed that appeared to be coming out of a hole in the sky with two more of the comma ufo on either side of it traveling perpendicular like it was escorting this thing. They were all in full view for about a second and a half then it disappeared into another “hole” straight ahead of it and, gone again.

Then two nights after that at about 2:00 a.m. I’m getting out of my car in the parking lot of where I was living at the time and I’m looking up when I see another single comma ufo going straight up and disappearing into the nightsky. I finally asked my mother who watched the local news a lot if she had heard anything, and she said that she had but that it was just reported in a typical news reporter fashion that it was “Santa Clause” of course. I feel sure that I was seeing these craft in the process of making a dimentional jump I am also confident that what I had seen was the real deal and not some odd weather phenomena as the result of the cool, clear and crisp weather we were having at the time.

So after reading the stories and discriptions I can definately say “Yes we are being visited” and I feel certain that the government has evidence that they are sitting on for one reason or another and that I’m not expecting them to own up to anything anytime soon. The Holy Grail will just have to reveal itself when it’s good and ready.

“The phenomenon of ionized and excited atmospheric molecules around a UFO also ties together a number of related mysteries about the UFO. accounts for the general nighttime appearance of the UFO: the many observed colors, the fiery, neon-like look, the self-illuminating character,” ~ Paul Hill from his book “Unconventional Flying objects”
