Open Minds UFO Radio: Doug Trumbull is listed on IMDb as a “Legendary filmmaker and visual effects pioneer.” Among others, he was a special effects supervisor for 2001: A Space Odyssey, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Star Trek: The Movie, and Blade Runner. All some of the biggest classics in science fiction movie history. However, what is less known is that Doug is also a UFO hunter. He has labeled his UFO hunting efforts the UFOTOG project (a meshing of the words UFO and photography). This has included a Hummer decked out with photographic equipment, and a short film about a man searching for UFOs.
We talk to Doug about UFOs and special effects, and his UFOTOG project. We are also joined by MUFON chief photo analyst Marc Dantonio who has been assisting Trumbull with the UFOTOG project. You can read more about Trumbull at his website, www.DouglasTrumbull.com.
It’s a great project, but the real question is why haven’t we ever succeeded in getting any decent photographs of UFOs in the first place ? I’ve been looking at UFO pictures for over 50 years now and I can hardly find a single one that appears real. That’s not to say that they don’t exist, but one could wonder if “they” can influence our behaviour when we see a UFO – not to mention the possibility that they might be able to influence our technology. I have heard so many people say they tried to photograph UFOs and the pictures came out blank or their cameras would not work. I have a friend who saw a UFO and had her cell with her, but the cell went dead when she tried to take a picture of it even though she had just charged its battery. The cell came back to life after the UFO had left.
From so many reports I have read over the years, I get the impression that this is not about UFOs being interdimensional so much as them having very efficient stealth technology. We see them only when they wish to be seen. And if they don’t want to be seen or photographed, we will not succeed either way – no matter how sophisticated our equipment.
Furthermore, from this discussion, Mr. Trumbull seems to suggest that UFOs that are observed are, for the most part, ambiguous lights seen at night and requiring very specialized equipment to record them, when in fact many people are reporting solid structured craft in daylight. Those could be photographed with a regular camera – ideally, one that can be manually focused. But again, this is not happening, either because people are too overwhelmed when they have such a sighting or maybe because the UFO’s can tamper with cameras pointed at them. This might sound like an outrageous suggestion, but could very well be part of an advanced stealth technology.
I am writing because of my encounters….but no one wants to talk to me about them…they say submit a email…..so I did….and have for over 2yrs….but no one ..has even bothered to talk to me about them..so what good does it do….they say they will investigate…..but they don’t travel….or they need pictures….yet i have seen them on tv…. investigate without anyone having any pictures….yet they would go talk to the people….who reported their sightings….I am beginning to wonder….if you people are for real…or not…I think I qualify as a ufo…investigator….because of all the encounters I have had…..I have even seen a ET up close and personal….the one I saw was a shift changer…in other words I saw it change from the human form…into its alien form…..I have also been able to make contact with ufos…..and I can even spot them in the night skies when they go overhead…
