A California witness at Yuba City reported catching a triangle-shaped UFO in two photos during a period of feeling uneasy about being in that location, according to testimony in Case 71166 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
“I went to Boyd’s pump to take photos of a thunderstorm to get lightening photos,” the witness stated.“I ran out of space on my SD card so I ran home and transferred the photos I had taken to my laptop, cleared my card, and went back to the same location to shoot more photos.”
But the witness suddenly felt uneasy.
“I got a weird feeling, like I should leave, that got quite intense and I was scared, but was not sure exactly why. When I got home I loaded my photos onto my computer and realized there were two different photos that had a strange and unexplainable object in them.”
The witness described the objects.
“The first was a yellowish colored light that appeared to be shooting out of a cloud that was a really strange shape. The cloud was an X-shape with the lower two legs of the X flattened to make a straight line. And the second photo I had noticed a strange shape just under the clouds.”
The witness then examined the photos closer.
“When I zoomed in on it I realized it was a triangle with a circle and some sort of marking that resembled almost a face on the bottom of it. I just found it to be extremely weird so I decided to report it.”
John Fegel for California MUFON investigated this case and closed it as an Unknown.

The “UFO” is a lens glare artifact. Trace the direction of the “UFO” down to the headlights at the bottom of the frame. No ufo. Sorry.

A MUFON investigator who can’t recognize lens flare? I’m shocked.
All great points, looks like lens flare. The one with the clouds still looks cool.
I live in Yuba City, Ca. This triangle has been seen before. I saw it a year ago with 2 drones flying with it. Its just a new drone Beale Air Force Base is testing.
I reported the sighting to mufon before i found out it was a new drone. Since i didnt have pictures, i got blew off by mufon. I was also told there was no california mufon investigator.
To those of you who said lens flares ? No way ! Shame on you for acting like know it alls when the photos clearly show a craft coming out of those clouds.
Not a UFO. Its either a lens flare or sunlight being refracted through a gap in the clouds. Neat shape, though.

You will note each photo was a 25 second exposure. So no, it was not a craft of any kind.
That is lens flare, pure and simple. I see this all the time as a night photographer in Sacramento, just to the south of Yuba City. One way to test: lens flare generally aligns with the bright lights in the image. Draw a line from the “head” and “tail” of the flare to the lights–they are aligned. Flare is the light bouncing around inside the complex lens.
Please vet your cases harder, although I strongly believe in the possibility of one day us capturing incontrovertible proof of UFOs as real, this is the easily explainable stuff that skeptics love to pounce on.
It’s too bad the witness felt creeped out–perhaps they’d do better to learn their equipment better indoors first.
