Silver Surfer UFOs ride the fireball UFO wave

In the past month, fireball-like UFOs have been seen at multiple locations in the United States.

On November 25th, a mysterious “fireball” was reported in the sky above Polk County, Florida. The UFO was reported to local Fox affiliate FOX 13 by several witnesses. This bright object was followed by a smoke or condensation trail (contrail), and witnesses were unable to determine if the object was burning up, or if it simply had an illuminated contrail because of the setting sun.

On November 28th, a witness captured video of a strange “fireball” object in the sky above Stone Mountain in Atlanta, Georgia, bearing a very similar resemblance to the fireball seen in Polk County, FL.

On December 1st, two strange “fireball” objects were observed falling from the sky in Santa Monica, California. Jeremy Corbell, a witness, was able to capture the strange UFOs on video with his iPhone. The objects had strangely illuminated contrails, and one of the objects, which Corbell descriptively refers to as a “silver surfer UFO,” was seen maneuvering. The video (see below) was posted by Corbell on YouTube.

Adding his take on the video, conceptual artist and researcher Mark McCandlish commented,

“In spite of the shakiness of the footage, it is obvious that you’ve captured something that was NOT a falling meteor or typical fighter aircraft. I have had stick time in the F-4, A-7, F-15 and the F-16 (up to 9.3 G’s). This aircraft- (the closer of the two)- executed about a 110 degree turn in a matter of seconds. Judging by the speed that it appeared to be traveling, it was surpassing the performance of any “manned” fighter aircraft I’m familiar with.”

Corbell contacted Open Minds again after locating a video shot by a different witness showing the same “silver surfer UFO” object shot near the same time as the original video, but from a different vantage point.

Corbell was also able to locate two more videos from other witnesses who filmed strange UFOs over Santa Monica, CA seven days after the December 1st sighting.

Corbell also pointed out the fact that Twitter was exploding with chatter about “Santa Monica Fireball.”

So what are these fireballs in the sky? Are they all the same type of craft? Are they space junk? And why all the sightings now? Is this some sort of fireball UFO wave?

Open Minds was recently contacted by a ufologist from the Czech Republic who has investigated a similar object in the past. On September 10th, 2003, campers in the South Bohemia region of the Czech Republic recorded video of a strange object in the sky. At first, the witnesses thought the object was a burning plane, but they ruled that theory out after realizing that there were no blazing flames and no sound coming from the slow-moving object. The video was released to television news stations, and was analyzed by astronomers and ufologists. Several hypotheses were put forward, but the information gathered led researchers to believe the object was a Learjet 60 plane with an illuminated contrail giving the object its fiery appearance.

Many people are not used to seeing the unusual appearance of airplane contrails illuminated by the sun. This very spectacle was recently given global media attention in the coverage of the so-called “mystery missile” off the California coast. On Monday, November 8th, the pilot of a Los Angeles CBS affiliate news helicopter was filming the sunset when he captured footage of what many believed to be a launched missile 35 miles off the coast of L.A., north of Catalina Island. Some experts said the object was clearly a rocket, while others offered the opinion that the object was simply an airplane, and the rocket-like appearance of the contrail was the result of a combination of the camera’s angle and the setting sun.

But despite the explanation of illuminated plane contrails, many believe these strange fireballs to be extraterrestrial craft. While some aerial “fireball” objects are most certainly airplanes with illuminated contrails, or meteors, or other space junk, it does not mean that EVERY object in the sky with a fireball-like appearance is one of these known objects. Unfortunately, it seems that, all too often, critics are quick to assign a “known” to an “unknown.” A UFO may display characteristics similar to planes or space debris, but before forcefully identifying the object, it is important to fairly consider the possibility that the object is something else entirely.
