A North Carolina witness at Havelock reported watching a low flying, cigar-shaped UFO that “gently” came into view and quickly moved west, according to testimony in Case 65579 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The reporting witness and her 17-year-old son were completing an exit turn off of westbound Highway 70 leading to Greenfield Heights on a clear night with sparse traffic when the object first came into view about 11:33 p.m. on May 14, 2015.
“It was here while waiting that we made an unusual observation,” the witness stated. “Coming up from the distant east tree line about one-half mile away at approximately a 45-degree slope, a light leading a large, lumbering black shape appeared and headed in our general direction moving slightly north-westerly.”
The witness described the object’s movement.
“It moved gentle, blimpish, quietly and slowly leveling out as it headed west. At one point it was almost directly above us slightly north and we were mesmerized by the length, which was primarily evidenced by the long dark gap between a front, large almost LED-type light on a slightly cone-shaped tip to the back with a couple of pattern, pulsating red lights (no green, blue or other lights).”
The two witnesses continued to watch.
“I rolled down my window and we stared as it continued west toward the northwest forest tree line, in an oddly, low, low altitude for such a size, until out of sight.”
The witness detailed the main items that stood out.
“Most unusual was its floating type of movement, its size and very dark exterior, and a very conspicuous lack of sound. We have lived next to MCAS Cherry Point nearly 20 years. My spouse (now retired) was involved in land air defense on the air station. We can identify numerous aircraft by sight, shadow, sound and movement patterns. We frequently hear flights in and out of Cherry Point Air Station including vertical lift helicopters, and of course, the harrier jets that can ‘hover.’ This object was not identifiable to anything previously experienced.”
The witness is positive the object was not a military aircraft.
“It was much larger than known typical military craft, including the C-130. It moved almost like a blimp, but was not the large football/blimp shape, more like a long very dark (almost matching the night sky) cigar.”
The witness could not identify the object.
“The lights initially led us to believe it was a known craft coming past at an odd angle, but as it leveled out and continued west, it was apparent this was not a known craft, at least not known to me. The lack of sound was particularly fascinating. I know that sound travels slower than light. Whenever we happen to view a helicopter or other craft at a similar range it takes a moment for the sound to catch up to the viewed object but ultimately it does and we always hear the typical aircraft roars and rumbles.”
The object made no sound.
“As this strange object passed overhead, we listened specifically for any sound patterns. There were none. The object just passed by at quick and steady pace until it was no longer visible. We (son and I) both agreed we could not identify this craft so we considered it a UFO. I was reluctant to share this on MUFON, however, I would have appreciated it if I found someone describing something similar that they also experienced and so, in the interest of sharing, here it is. If anyone asks, I’ll try drawing it out and post the sketch. Aside from missing our left turn and feeling a bit paranoid, we have experienced no negative side effects.”

Sounds like the Cigar shaped U.F.O. stated as unexplainable from The Project Blue Book Days! Same everything this woman stated. Also, wasn’t there something like this, reported back in the 90’s? I seem to remember something about a cigar shaped U.F.O. awhile back more recently! Excluding this incident! Anyway, just FYI.

Back around 1992 we had a very large Excercise on Fort Bragg,N.C..There were many units involved in this excersise and one night during this excercise,I was on guard duty.I was in the woods around small pine trees approx 35 to 45′ pine trees.I would say it was about 3 a.m. and I was leaning against a pine tree.I looked towards the sky about 200yards from my position and it was a very clear night,alot of stars in the sky and quiet.All of the sudden I noticed a dark object flying in a straight path from left to right.There was no sound at all and the only way I new something was there was as I saw the stars behind it disappered.it was moving very slow,if I had to guess I would say maybe 5 to 10 mph.It did not deviate from its path just continous movement at the same altitude that I first noticed it and no lights or sound coming from this object at all.I was close enough that I would have heard some noise if there was but there was none.I watched this object continue until it was out of site of my vision b/c of the pine tress,Like I said I only knew something was there b/c of the disapearance of the stars behind it but It looked to be about30 or so feet in length and elongated,best way I can describe it was it was like a small mini sub,a rounded front and rounded back.What made me the most curious about this object was the excercise we were having on Fort Bragg at the time,It involved several nations military forces and our own and was a “war time readiness ” excersise between multiple countries.My gut feeling was that whatever this was it was surveying the operations in some kind of way?We may have had drone technology back in 1993 but the way I could see it passing and blocking the stars and sky behind it it didn’t look like a drone to me.like I said there was no noise and no lights.Thats about all I can say as to what I witnessed on that night back in 1992 and it still stays in my mind all the time as to what the hell was that thing.
I have to say I was surprised to run across this article as me and my fiance also witnessed this craft in May of 2015 over Cherry Point, nc. We were sitting outside one night and as I looked up I witnessed a very long cigar shaped object that was brilliantly light up moving in a westward bound direction. It was very high up in the sky though. I asked my fiance if she seen it too, and she said yes. We stared at it for about 30 seconds and we both looked away for a moment and when I looked back it was gone. I only surmised that it either took off very fast and disappeared or went dark. I have to say that as it was very high in the sky and the length of this object was enormous! I chalked it up to either being a classified military object or a ufo. I am an Electrician and
Have also worked at Fort Bragg, nc where I seen a low orbiting silver cylinder object during broad daylight over our barracks that we were wiring back in ’06 also, so I tend to look up at the sky when I’m not busy. And again, I also asked a co-employee to verify what I was seeing to confirm that it wasn’t just me.
i live in northern California I saw the same thing .Fishing on the east side of a river that runs through down looking east is a parking structure 60 yards away . The structure is 3 stories high with lite up with four light poles .lights from the intersection on the left corner of structure.And light illuminating from the down town area. it was myself and some drunk guy now sleeping in his chair. Then I noticed the light being blocked by something is what caught my attention, from the outline it looked like a bilmp coming at my 12 o clock. it was 20 feet above parking structure .very quiet slowly moving 5 mhp or so .It looked like it turned side ways slowly .Oval in shape it was reflecting like its cloaking device was shorting out. Like in the predator movie. I started yelling at drunk guy look wake up and look .By now it stopped at my 1 o clock 20 yards from me same elevation. And then slowly drifted over town into the darkness quiet as a cloud.I emailed local PD. Heading Drone or UFO.PD response no drones in the area.The report and comments above are dead on with what I saw. I’m so glad others have seen this UFO . I wish I never seen the UFO . Its changed my life.
