West Virginia witnesses at Elkins reported watching and following a low flying , triangle-shaped UFO that eventually appeared to cloak itself and disappear about 8:40 p.m. on September 25, 2014, according to testimony in Case 60101 from the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) witness reporting database.
The reporting witness and his wife were driving south out of Elkins on Beverly Pike when two bright orange lights were observed low in the sky.
“The light on the right was higher than the one on the left, suggesting the object had just changed direction or was banking from a western direction of travel to a northern direction of travel,” the witness stated.
The couple moved closer to the object.
“We watched the lights get closer and appear level as the object was traveling due north in the opposite direction of travel from us. We noticed a third, dim white light in the front of the object, thus forming a triangle of lights with the two orange orbs to the rear/side.”
The witness described the object.
“As we got closer I noticed the orange lights were hourglass-shaped. Last night was very clear and devoid of any cloud cover. This made it possible to discern the shape of the object was indeed a triangle, flat black in color, reflecting no light.”
The witness believes there may be many more witnesses out there.
“This is a heavily populated area with many brightly lit businesses. The object traveled directly over a huge shopping center with Wal-Mart and several neighborhoods. We pulled over at a Ford dealership to observe and watched as the object slowly passed by – much too slow for even a small Cessna and at a low altitude.”
The object was low enough in the sky for a good look.
“The altitude was roughly slightly lower than that of which an airplane would be if it was about to land. I’d estimate speed at around 30-40 knots. The scale of this thing was huge! It’s ‘wing’ span I would estimate around 100 yards. I am very familiar with general aviation and military aircraft and this was neither. I saw no discernible control surfaces, canopy, windows, or any other feature – just flat black with two orange lights and one white, dim light.”
The object did not appear to move away, but just disappeared.
“As the object passed by us, it disappeared as if using a cloaking device. All we could see was stars. Again, this is a very heavily populated and bustling area. Anyone traveling south on the Beverly Pike between 8:35 and 8:40 would have seen it, as it was flying parallel with the five-lane on the Wal-Mart side of the highway.”
Elkins is a city in Randolph County, West Virginia, population 7,094. West Virginia MUFON is investigating. No pictures? Really! Are people so stupefied by unidentifiable flying objects that they fail to take a cell phone picture or video? Even the cheapest cell phones have a camera. But then again, real UFO’s only appear to those with no available camera……or so it would seem. NOW you know why these things are unidentifiable, because there is no proof that they even exist aside from eyewitness testi-phony. I am a believer in the UFO phenomenon, and was a frequently re-occurring childhood abductee. But I find it hard to acceptably bite down on non-photo stories like this these days to back up the hype. Nice try but objection-ally UNACCEPTABLE!
Hi Invidinvasion, you might want to question why your military industrial complex family member or members allowed you to become a pawn in their abduction games. That is really sick that they would allow that to happen to a small child. Only in the good ‘ole USA. Abductions don’t seem to be happening anywhere else.
A buddy and his girlfriend said they saw a UFO this past Friday. We’re from Los Angeles area. They described it as “triangular” shaped, but they said it was shooting out greenish-blue flames or something, not orange. My buddy also said it kinda just cloaked away and disappeared. My friends aren’t the type of people that would say something like this, so when they said this, I had to believe them. I had to search to see if there was any UFO sighting on twitter or trending somewhere. Sure enough, I came across this article… and what got me was that this article also said it was “triangular” shaped…
So invidinvasion – do you have photo evidence of your childhood abductions? If not, I guess from your response we should consider anything you have to say on the subject as UNACCEPTABLE?
I’d love to see irrefutable photographic evidence to back up a report like this, but it doesn’t exist. Even if photos were provided, they can be faked. In the end it will always boil down to whether or not you choose to believe the witness. That doesn’t mean that the report should be dismissed, any more than a lack of photographic evidence means that your claims of abduction should be dismissed.
My iPhone 5s can barely take a picture of the moon let alone a dim flying object. You need something that can take very good low light photos in order to capture anything at night. Phone cameras simply don’t work.
This was my report, submitted originally to MUFON. To the know-it-all “invidinvasion”, we did take video on an iPhone 5S, and it wasn’t worth a damn. You obviously don’t know anything about night photography and how complex it is…let alone night photography of a flat black object in motion above a brightly lit business area. So, congratulations on proving yourself an idiot, spouting off at the mouth like so many “experts” on the internet. Where are your pictures?
I saw a very large blimp cloak itself while flying over Dallas, TX in the early 90′s. The blimp appeared to utilize some kind of invisibility technology that appeared similar to this:

Although the blimp was utilizing the invisibility technology, I was still able to
see it because 1) it either attracted or created a small cloud that traveled along
underneath it and 2) the sky that it was reflecting differed from the sky behind it.
The blimp was perhaps as long as a football field. I sat and watched the blimp go
over Dallas, TX for about 15-20 mins. I was able to see it switch between
invisibility that reflected the night sky to reflecting the city lights below. The
one I saw also had windows similar this one:

The blimp was headed in a southwest direction over Dallas, TX which made me think
that it may have been headed toward one of the military bases.

I’ve seen one of these over an area south of the river in Perth, similar height and speed shape and lights. Silent running too. This one didn’t cloak itself but was so low and slow and huge it was amazing so few people saw it. There have been a number of reports of sightings in Perth in the years since I’ve noticed which were from that night or probably so. However nothing like what should have seen it you’d have thought.
To the first poster, what makes you think we have time to think of you when something so incredible occurs? I did fumble with my phone at the time but between calming my two frightened children and trying to get passing drivers to look at it instead of at me as if I was crazy, getting photos wasn’t something in the end I managed. Maybe now about 18 years later I am more accustomed to my “smartphone” and will be quicker next time, but if so only because as this is now my third close encounter I may be able to remain calm enough and cool to do more than react in astonishment and awe.
I live in Elkins & the pictures ARE NOT OF ELKINS. I have seen things in the sky in areas here in West Virginia that I believe were not of our modern technology. I never heard anything about this story. I’m not saying this is not something that some local couple did not experience, but I will say the pictures made me mad. If the story is the be accepted as credible at least use pictures of our town & the area that this (so called) story took place.
To Elkins resident, apparently you do not get out very much because the pictures posted are of the 5-lane on 219 N/S, south of Elkins. The first one is pointing south, the second one north. And if you will read todays Inter-Mountain you will find this story posted there.

I was driving home at lunch time. There it was over an open desert area. I only noticed it because of a glint of light reflecting off of it. It was a silver color and looked almost like a six pack of beer. I looked back at the road, then looked back up and it was gone! Wouldnt have been time for a pic either.
I was just searching recent sightings because my boyfriend and I saw something unexplainable from our back porch two nights ago. We have a clear view of the city of Denver directly east when we look out to the left from our balcony. My boyfriend shouted for me to come outside and check out these lights. It was an extremely clear night, one of the clearest I can remember since we moved here. At first we only noticed 1 of 3 of the lights, and it was the brightest object in the sky. I thought at first that it had to be a star because of the way it was twinkling- more than any star I’ve ever seen (orange,red,blue,purple) and it was south east in the lower sky. I looked more toward Denver and realized an almost identical object was lined up perfectly horizontally to the other but directly over the city due east. Then, I noticed a third, less bright but unusually placed object directly in the middle of the other two, slightly higher in the sky. The three formed a triangle, very much like the one you have described. We stood and watched for movement for atleast 20 minutes and saw nothing. We eventually went inside and I decided to do some research just because I am in an astronomy course right now and I have to observe the night skies for labs on a regular basis. I have a program called SKY X, which is much like a star map you can download in the App Store- just more specific and you can change your time, location and date. When I looked on sky x, I saw no planets where the objects were lined up or anything that would be unusually bright at that position. I decided we should wait til the next night (last night) and look again to see if we had just never noticed the bright stars in those spots. Sure enough, we looked last night and none of the three objects were visible.
I have had a handful of my own sightings. One other last year in Panama City Beach Florida on vacation with my family. We stayed at a hotel a few miles down the shoreline from a military Air Force base, and I witnessed a triangular formation of lights performing what looked like a test run or something. Always staying in a triangle, turning circles in different patterns I have to question what I saw both of these nights. I am very open to the ideas of aliens having visited us and our own governments recreating technologies of visitors in secret. Both seem entirely possible. I mostly just yearn to share sightings with others who know exactly what I saw.
